London Organiser

POMOC is seeking a passionate and creative community organiser to join our growing team in London. As the London Organiser, you would work with a diverse and collaborative team on projects and campaigns to advance the rights of migrants in the UK.

We are looking for someone who is interested in full-time or part-time work, and is bilingual in English and at least one Eastern European language.

About the organisation

POMOC is a grassroots political home for Eastern Europeans and migrants living in the UK, particularly women and LGBTQ+ people, to organise towards dignity, power and justice. In just three and a half years, POMOC evolved from a small project to a national multi-staff organisation, reaching thousands across several regions of the UK.

Our directors, staff, leaders and volunteers have deep community roots and lived experience of issues we tackle. When we organise, we work in solidarity and seek to activate our communities to campaign around their needs – from fair housing and migrants’ rights to improving our democracy – while influencing local and national policies. We believe this is the recipe for transforming the UK’s balance of power towards greater equality and improving our communities’ material conditions.

Location: London, with a preference of Lewisham, Ealing or Waltham Forest

Timeline: Start date on 1 November 2023 (3 year post)

Hours: Available either full-time or part-time (from 0.6 FTE)

Working hours are flexible, but we expect responsiveness to organisational needs and local opportunities. This could mean working evenings and weekends. In addition to attending virtual and in-person team meetings, we may ask you to travel within the UK.

Remuneration: £30,000- £32,000 per year (depending on experience) or pro rated equivalent.  

At POMOC, we prioritise the wellbeing of our employees. As part of our commitment, we offer 3 weeks of paid annual leave during the December/January holiday period, in addition to the standard 12 days of statutory annual leave, public holidays in England (pro rata) and birthday.


Employees have access to free annual eye checks, osteopathy sessions and a wellbeing fund that could contribute to therapy, somatics or other holistic healing.

Mentorship: At POMOC, we invest time and resources in our colleagues. We offer internal and external training and mentorship opportunities on a case by case basis.


● Build and implement an organising strategy in London to grow POMOC’s membership base – with support from the co-directors

● Lead on community outreach and identify outreach hotspots

● Identify and activate community leaders to participate in local and national campaigns

● Build and manage relationships with a diverse set of partner organisations, from national nonprofits to small community centres or community groups

● Manage a database of contacts

● Lead and/or support a variety of in-person events in London (from creative workshops to know-your-rights clinics), and at times, online events with support from our social media team

● Produce bilingual written materials and social media content

● Lead evaluation processes after big events and projects, and provide feedback for reports

● Participate in team meetings and check-ins with co-directors





● Passionate and excited to work with local communities at the grassroots level

● Strong commitment to social justice, anti-racism, feminism and LGBTQIA+ equality

● Good people skills and ability to manage the needs, priorities and differences of a diverse range of communities

● Natural problem-solver who is abe to work both independently and collaboratively in a startup environment

● Good written and oral communication skills in English and at least one Eastern European language

● Takes initiative in bringing tasks or activities to the finish line, with excellent attention to detail and project deadlines

● Comfortable with or open to learning new technologies and social media tools (e.g. Google Drive, Mailchimp, Slack, Trello, Zoom, Canva, Twitter, Instagram and Facebook)




● Willing to approach organising in a creative and out of the box ways

● At least one of year of demonstrated experience working as an organiser or campaigner

● Excellent project management and strategic thinking skills
